In what building/room is this actually located? How many people are participating? I'm thinking of attending, but I don't know where to go...

From what I've gathered from announcements so far and past experience (haven't been able to get an official confirmation as of yet) the event is being launched from Research Hall. There should be signs directing you to the bottom floor of the building, where the opening cerimonies will be held. From there, teams will make their way to a number of "work locations" such as the Engineering or Arts buildings where they may work for the duration of the jam. I'd expect anywhere between 40 and 150 people to attend at this location, basing off of attendance at the event this time last year, the worldwide growth of the competition, and the amount I've seen it advertized by professors and student clubs around campus this year compared to last.

The exact start time has been more difficult to narrow down - some sources saying 5pm and others 7pm. I believe what is most likely is that the 5pm time is for students who have not attended before or do not know the procudures of the competition to show up, register, and socialize, with the opening cerimonies beginning at 7pm and the theme of competition being anounced somewhere around 7:30-7:45.

Last year, however, there was pizza for those people cool enough to show up by 5pm!
I recommend showing up early, especially if you're a programmer, as the competition tends to have quite a lot of them, and it can be easier to get on a team with a sound or graphical artist if you show up and spend some time beforehand getting to know people.

Wow, thanks a lot! That sounds even more awesome than I was hoping for! I don't live on campus so I haven't seen any advertisements for it, but this sounds really cool.

People will start gathering at 5, because that's the earliest most people get off work. But people who may have to drive in traffic won't be able to arrive until closer to 7. Hence the window. In the interim we'll be doing some icebreakers and playing jam-related videos as folks arrive.

We'll be meeting in Research Hall 163 and announcing the theme at 7. We're hoping we have RH163 before 7 as well but are awaiting final confirmation.

The best place to park will be Shenandoah Parking Deck. You will need to pay to park there.

Please note that computers in A&D 1018 and LL 004 will deepfreeze at 2300 and we'll need to leave the buildings at the same time. The Jam will reopen in the morning at 0700.
