Game: Tinman's Heart

The gameplay is based around three main mechanics. First of all, a heartbeat counter is started at the beginning of the game. It starts at 60 and continues to grow every second by one. When it gets to 100, it starts growing by 2 each second until it reaches 140. Once it reaches 140, it stars rising by 3 each second until it gets to 180. If the heartbeat counter reaches 180, the player loses the game. The second gameplay mechanic is the "blackout" mechanic. Similarly to the previous mechanic, the "blackouts" depend on the heartbeat meter. If the heartbeat meter is between 60 and 100, blackouts occur each 3 seconds. If the counter is between 100-140, blackouts occur every 2 seconds. If the counter is between 140 and 180, then blackouts occur each 1 second to signify that the character is near death. The last mechanic is basically "robot patches" which are actually active abilities activated by a certain key press. In this demo, only one "patch" is available - speed and it is activated by pushing "Q". However, there is a negative side to using this patch - it increases the heartbeat step. It means that if the counter is between 60-100, the heartbeat goes up by 2 instead of 1. If the counter is between 100 and 140, the counter goes up by 3 instead of 2, and if the heartbeat is 140-180 then the counter goes up by 4. So this means that the player must be able to find a balance by using the "patches", if the player uses speed all the time, the character would die before coming close to the heart. Together with the blackouts which can cause the AI to ambush the player who is unaware of the positions of the AI makes for a hard quick game utilizing both strategy and quick thinking. Later versions would include dynamically created stages together with a comprehensive visual UI.

Your game was very good, and too bad it didn't receive any reward. But is a good idea, and with little work, it can be made into a commercial game - for web and to go well. :)
