Game: Throb

Throb is a single player game in which the player uses the left and right triggers of an Xbox controller (or the Q and E keys of a keyboard) to keep the beat of a song while also keeping the beat of the player's "heart," which varies. The player must hit the (left/right) trigger when the notes (triangles/hearts) are on top of the static triangle/heart. In addition to this, there is a crowd of people moving towards the player (who is on a stage) and each successful 4-note combo knocks back the people. The game is over if any of the people/crowd reach the stage. Note that hitting the heart notes is optional, but if you attempt to hit one and miss, it will return your combo back to 1. The player can choose from a handful of songs, each with varying difficult. All music in this game was either made by the team or is licensed by Creative Commons, used under permission.

Diversifiers

Approved for All Audiences: The game must not show any violence, not even cartoonish. Stepping on living mushrooms is off the list, as is killing any type of enemies, not even undead, though we know they’re already dead…
