Game: Stroke of Genius

In this addicting, awesomely frustrating, easy to learn, fast action, mouse-button-masher of a strategic puzzle game, you must avoid a stroke by creating pathways for blood cells to avoid annoying, randomly coagulating blood clots and successfully navigate through the brain. Help make sure a steady supply of blood is getting back to the beating heart as the pulse increases.

Working alone, I was not able to create a video this year, however I plan to add a gameplay video.

Stay Inside The Box: The whole game takes place in just one screen, no scrolling or changing screens in any way is allowed.
Approved for All Audiences: The game must not show any violence, not even cartoonish. Stepping on living mushrooms is off the list, as is killing any type of enemies, not even undead, though we know they’re already dead…

Executable or Installer

Download and run the installer to install ggj_1 onto your computer.  This is the game.

Mac OS X+
Web standard (Html5, Java, JavaScript, Flash)
This game seems to run flawlessly on Firefox and fairly well on Internet Explorer. Safari closes upon trying to load on my laptop, but had no trouble on my iMac or tower. Google Chrome just went into infinite loading. The executable is the best way to go if you have a PC. I will be working on a Mac standalone version and an iOS version this week. Also on the to-do list is to make a better page for the game to live in and to have a permanent high score (with high score user's moniker, perhaps).

Joe Granato IV

Unfortunately, I could not make it to the nearest GGJ location (2.5 hours away) this year, but I didn't let that stop my tenacity to participate.  I worked alone and created all assets for this project, staying within the constraints of the competition, adhering to the theme, and including two of the diversifiers.

Joe Granato iv: Concept, music composition and sound effects, game art, programming.
